Just an FYI

Just wanted to give everyone a heads-up that we’re not actively seeking new gigs until Fall-ish.  With Johnny’s upcoming wedding, Chris getting ready to become a dad (WOW!), Dave actually already being a dad, and me with…what I’ve got…we’re pretty busy.  Things will cool down a little bit toward the end of the summer, into Fall, and we’ll pick up the gig hunt then.

In the interim, we’ve decided to start recording some stuff.  Looking forward to that.  Should be pretty cool.

We’ll keep you posted on any news as it happens.  …and if you’re a booker who’s just read this, go ahead and e-mail us anyway.  Never know…we might be able to wedge open a small window for a gig or two, despite the busy schedules.

The other three guys in Blue Tattoo extend our heartfelt congratulations to our drummer Johnny, who just got engaged to his soon-to-be wife Julie!  He’s a picture of the happy couple, stolen from Johnny’s Facebook page.  (Julie’s the one who isn’t a boat.)

First Gig and Such…

I thought it was about time to update the blog.

As you can see on our website, we have a gig on January 17 at The Chapel.  (See this link for info.)  We’re looking forward to it.  Should be a lot of fun.  No idea what the set list is going to be, but we’re almost sure to do all of the EP (available as a free download on the website) and there’s likely to be a cover song or two, just for kicks.  Look for a band-member to write a post about it when it’s over…and we’ll try to be better bloggers and write before that, too.

Otherwise, all’s quiet on the BT front.  We’ve had some downtime from rehearsals on and off, due to personal scheduling, Thanksgiving and so on.  No worries though.  We’ll shake off the dust before the gig gets here.  We’re all looking forward to taking our new gear out on the stage (we all have instruments that have not yet seen the bright-lights) and are looking forward to a really fun evening with friends, family, and fans.

More to come, as it happens.

…and Blue Tattoo would like to congratulate President-elect Barack Obama.

Also, we just wanted to update the blog since no one’s written anything in a couple of weeks.

Happy 30th, Johnny

Johnny Ream, the drummer, just celebrated his 30th birthday.  At the celebration, someone had the foresight to put up a bunch of his old school pictures…and I had the foresight to bring my camera-phone.  So…here’s a few shots that will almost surely get me punched in the mouth at the next rehearsal.  Enjoy!

Dave Says Hi.

There’s lots of excitement going on here in the Blue Tattoo camp.  As many of you know, the recordings we did earlier this year have emerged as  “The Logan County E.P.”  We’ve had a lot of positive feedback from those who have heard it, and we’reall proud of what we’ve done.  The four songs included are “The Difference”, “I Go”, “Mother Maybelle’s Shotgun”, and “Tear It Down”.  There should be some audio from it on the site soon, and of course hard copies will be available at the shows.

Speaking of shows, the official Blue Tattoo press kits are currently making the rounds to local clubs here in the St. Louis area.  Phone calls are being made, e-mails are flying, and we beleive that gigs should be following soon.  Keep checking the site, and trust me, we’ll let you know when gigs are happening.  Thanks
to everyone who’s been so patient in waiting to come see us play.  We won’t let you down.

Also, on a personal note, congratulations to our friend and guitarist Chris Teague on his marriage to Amy.  We all wish you the best.

Okay, that’s all for now.  See you soon.  Until then, keep supporting local music and stay awesome.
